Top 10 Fashion Accessories Ad Campaigns of Spring 2022 Season as chosen by Kenneth Richard
Creating an accessories campaign presents both unique challenges and exciting opportunities. It reverses the typical order of importance for dressing: the supporting role becomes the star. Creatives are tasked with bringing a bag or a pair of shoes to the fore. These pieces are often, however, a label’s best-selling products, and so an excellent accessories campaign is just as important as any other – if not more.
Though they can often feel less involved concept- or narrative-wise, accessories campaigns are an extremely important and effective way for a house to communicate the fantasy and drama of high fashion while also connecting with people on a real level.
13 09 SR made a splash with its minimal yet uplifting and fresh debut campaign that put a simple focus on the brand’s unique and environmentally conscious designs. The only other brand on the list that focuses solely on accessories, Gentle Monster collaborated with Blackpink’s Jennie and accompanied the campaign with an original video game in which top players could win prizes from the collection.
Versace brought in top stars like Cole Sprouse and Emily Ratajkowski to fill their simple accessories campaign with recognizable character, confidence, and style.
Symbolically communicating rising to new heights, Balmain’s super-strength-infused campaign was a uniquely smart way to communicate the strength of the house’s contemporary vision, forming a forceful and recognizable statement of its ongoing creative mission to champion diverse and powerful women.
